Most business owners have a very inflated idea of what their business is really worth if they wanted to sell or gift it to others. Business valuation theory is all about determining a value based on any number of circumstances. Valuators have certain criteria that must be met in order to comply with statutes and general standards. One should be certified to prepare a valuation. There are a number of accredited valuators on Cape Cod.
This presentation will discuss the basic framework for a valuation, why two valuations could be vastly different, and what an owner should be thinking about when he is planning on selling or otherwise disposing of a business.
There will be some examples of the methodology and plenty of time to answer questions.
