Introduction to Coding & Interactive Story Boards for Kids Ages 5-7
BREWSTER, MA The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster, as part of their STEAM initiative, presents Introduction to Coding and Interactive Story Boards, a technology opportunity for kids ages 5-7, with Kristen Hilley. Six Sundays March 5th ~ April 9, 2017 1pm-2:30pm.
What does computer “code” mean and how does it work? Coding is the new literacy! Code is the instructional language humans write for computers to make computers do specific tasks. Students will begin an introductory journey into the exciting world of computer programming. Kids will learn in a fun, interactive environment using “ScratchJr”, a modern block-based programming app designed for their specific age range. No experience is required. After the class, kids can continue their exploration using the free ScratchJr application from home, which is collaboration between the DevTech Research Group at Tufts University, the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab, and the Playful Invention Company.

Kristen Hilley is a Technical Information Specialist with 20+ years of computer experience in a variety of creative, supportive and educational roles helping to educate others on new technologies. She is currently Technical Director at c4.net Internet Services in Harwich.
