Tech Careers on Cape Cod with Marc Rocque – First Friday – June 2018

Cape Cod is rich with potential for technology careers. I will look at the current landscape and explore hardware, infrastructure support and coding / applications engineering opportunities located here. Critical to filling the available technology jobs and fueling potential startup opportunities will be attracting and retaining qualified candidates. In light of that we’ll take a look at education opportunities for students new to the field as well as housing / cost of living challenges faced by workers just starting out in this field.
Marc has 30 years of technology infrastructure support experience for government, higher education and hospital sectors. Prior to becoming an Information Technology Teacher at Cape Cod Tech, he was a Systems Integrator for Microway, Inc. located in north Plymouth. There he worked on teams involved in scientific computing clusters built with linux and deep learning workstations built with NVidia and AMD GPU’s. His goal is to bring scientific computing to the high school level, and to foster new talent in all things IT.
