Ever need to hire a car for an airport ride and had that sickening feeling of guilt when a big black Town Car arrives just for you and your overnighter? The Green Shuttle founder Dean Athanas saw a need and filled it with a new concept in car service. With a fleet of hybrid Priuses, Altimas, and Escapes, the Green Shuttle moves people in an environmentally-friendly manner. Their web site shows the carbon emissions saved to date.
Dean’s company leverages technology throughout, from their online reservation system to GPS in every car, to WIFI in every car. Yep, mobile WIFI. Open your laptop or fire up your iPad and you’ll see the WAAV network ready to go. Laptop in the trunk? They’ve got an iPad for you to use on your ride.
Dean has a great story to tell, from the challenges of starting this new concept to keeping the ideas fresh. Any entrepreneur will be inspired and no doubt leave with some good ideas. Fans of the environment (that’s all of us, right?) get to hear how smart, forward-thinking business sense makes great environmental sense as well. Hope to see you there!
