“Introduction to Solar Energy” Class Addresses Workforce Training Plus Going Solar for Homeowners and Businesses

Cape Cod Community College (CCCC) registration is open for ENV173, “Introduction to Solar Energy,” an updated class designed to address community-based needs in two areas.

ENV173 is intended to (1) prepare students for entry-level positions in the booming solar industry, as well as for further education in energy and environmental technology; and (2) help homeowners and businesses understand their options and make fully informed decisions as they consider investing in solar power or heating systems.

For the first time, ENV173 will include both classroom and field components addressing passive solar, solar photovoltaic (PV), and solar thermal technologies. Beginning on January 23, classroom sessions will be held on Monday evenings, from 630-930 pm, on the CCCC campus. Later in the semester, field sessions will be scheduled in conjunction with leading local solar energy professionals to provide real-world experience with system siting, design, installation, and maintenance.

    Dear CCTC,
Thank you for the update of Solar Class at CCCC. As an elected Town Councilor in the Town of Barnstable I want to encourage the use of all forms of renewable energy. Because we are also faced with concerns for proper waste water management I am interested in the potential of home and community waste water to energy systems. The technology appears to be emerging and could be an important tool for the environment, employment and energy of the Cape Cod region. Please share my interest with the Council. Thank you.
