Memorial Bench approved for shark victim Arthur Medici at Newcomb Hollow Beach

The Cape Cod Technology Council, via our Infrastructure Committee, has been reviewing options for the detection of sharks off our coastline, as well as supporting OpenCape in its efforts to build better communication infrastructure to the beaches for faster emergency response times. Our member, Cape Cod Ocean Community, has shared this news about a permanent memorial at Newcomb Hollow Beach for Arthur Medici, the surfer who died in the 2018 shark attack, and whose death has galvanized efforts to improve water safety. From CCOC:

The Town of Wellfleet select board recently approved the placement of a Memorial Bench at Newcomb Hollow. The request was sponsored by the Beach manager with support from his family.

CCOC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we make a wonderful partner to help overcome constraints. Arthur G Medici is part of us forever now and please join us in assuring no one forgets his name. We are happy to respond to any questions, at capecodoceancommunity.org.
