How can we reduce energy usage in our homes and businesses?
Savant President J.C. Murphy will join the Cape Cod Technology Council on our First Friday in May to answer that question, discussing the underlying market factors driving opportunity for technology investment in residential and commercial buildings. He will also highlight recent government legislation that incentivizes homeowners and business owners to deploy smart building solutions that are focused on sustainability.
Founded in 2005 and based on Cape Cod, Savant harnesses technology to make homes and businesses smart, positively impacting entertainment, lighting, security, and environmental experiences.
About J.C. Murphy
Since 2012, J.C. Murphy has served as president of Savant, where he oversees all sales channels, marketing, training, field engineering, and business strategy. In May 2020, Murphy oversaw the company’s acquisition of GE Lighting.
Prior to joining Savant, Murphy was the CEO of Cedarpoint Communications, an innovative provider of VOIP solutions. Under his leadership, Cedarpoint doubled its position in customer and subscriber deployments, striking key global partnerships that ultimately led to its successful sale in January 2011. From 2003–2005, Murphy was president of Excel Switching, where he guided the creation of Cantata Technology via the acquisition of Brooktrout Technologies. He subsequently assumed the role of president of Cantata, and was named New England Telecommunications Executive of the Year in 2006 by Mass High Tech.
A graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Murphy is a veteran, having spent five years as an officer in the Coast Guard.
