Jun 2023: WE CAN – Technology for Nonprofits

First Friday Video Series

In its relatively short history, WE CAN (Women’s Empowerment through Cape Cod Networking) has made a significant impact in our region by empowering women to not only pursue but reach their personal and professional dreams.

The Cape Cod Technology Council is excited to welcome WE CAN Assistant Director Beth Bowman and Board Member Myra Killeen to its First Friday in June at Cape Cod Community College. The pair will provide a brief overview of WE CAN and its history, and share details of how technology has helped the nonprofit strengthen its mission.

Beth Bowman

A Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Beth joined WE CAN in October 2020 as its Assistant Director after spending four years as the Director of Community Impact at the Cape & Islands United Way.

Having earned her bachelor’s degree from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, and her master’s in social services from Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Beth has over two decades of experience as a social worker supporting children and families. Prior to moving to Cape Cod with her family in 2016, she served as the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) Assistant Commissioner for Performance Management.

Myra Killeen

After a 35-year career in high-tech, Myra retired, becoming a volunteer at WE CAN where she’s done everything from answer phones to serve as a mentor in the nonprofit’s PathMakers program. In 2021, she deepened her connection to WE CAN when she joined its Board of Directors.

Before retiring, Myra was an independent business consultant, providing analysis, project management, and quality assurance oversight for the design and implementation of eCommerce websites for several high-profile clients, including T.J. Maxx and El Corte Ingles. Myra has held management positions at Oracle, IBM’s Lotus Development, and Reed Elsevier.
