Since 2007, OpenCape has been working to improve the data delivery and broadband infrastructure on Cape Cod, the Islands, and Southeastern Massachusetts, overseeing the design and construction of a 350-mile 100% fiber optic network that went live 10 years ago.
Today, OpenCape continues its efforts to provide local, reliable, and affordable broadband access through its state-of-the-art network, advancing the economic development and public sector interests throughout the region.
On Friday, July 14, 7:30-9 AM, at Cape Cod Community College, we’ll hear from OpenCape CEO Steven Johnston about the state of broadband on the Cape – the successes, the challenges, and the future for our region.
About Steven Johnston
In September, Steven will celebrate his 8-year anniversary as OpenCape’s CEO and Executive Director. Prior to coming to the Cape, he served as Vice President, Brand Engagement at Care2.com a Silicon Valley-based Top 100 internet and social network site with 60+ million members and over 150 million monthly users seeking to make a global impact around important social issues. In that role, Steve led the firms’ advertising platform team, spearheading efforts to expand revenue streams and corporate sponsorships with global organizations.
Steven’s previous roles have included stints at Babson College and 17 years at PBS where he was Director of National Fundraising and Sponsorship for WGBH and Senior Director of Product Sponsorship and Fundraising Events for PBS Corporate Headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
