SNEEF Workshop- Federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants

The $2.4 Billion Federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program will be the focus of the Southern New England Entrepreneurs Forum (SNEEF) on Thursday, April 11, 5:30 p.m., UMASS Dartmouth’s Advanced Manu Manufacturing and Technology Center, 151 Martine Street, Fall River.

Marina Katayeva, President of Emitech, Inc., a small high technology company that develops innovative concepts in nanotechnology and advanced optoelectronic materials, will discuss Emitech’s experience obtaining and managing SBIR grants from the Department of Defense.   George Wright, President of GLSynthesis Inc., a chemistry-based company engaged in custom organic synthesis and manufacturing, drug and chemical product research, and product development and sales, will discuss the company’s experience in getting SBIR grants from the National Institutes of Health.  Dan Lilly, a contract specialist at the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network, will provide an introductory understanding of the SBIR program, the process to seek SBIR grants, the federal agency sources of funding, and tools to help you prepare a strategic planning prior to proposal preparation.

The SBIR program was established to help small businesses engage in research and development.  SNEEF attendees will be able to determine if they would like to pursue proposal development for SBIR grants.
