Fitness, Technology and Entrepreneurship

November 6, 2015 @ 7:30 am - 9:30 am

Just in time for the holidays and New Years weight-loss resolutions Fitness, Technology and Entrepreneurship take center stage at the Cape Cod Technology Council’s November 2015 First Friday Breakfast. The breakfast will be held on November 6, 2015 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Hyannis Golf Club, Route 132 off Exit 6 off Mid-Cape Highway Route 6. The event is open to the public.

Tim Calise, co-founder and chief executive officer of Koko FitClub Cape Cod, will speak on how technology is being applied by Koko FitClub to make strength and conditioning more enjoyable while improving fitness quicker. He will also address the entrepreneurship challenges and results in both development of local franchised FitClub facilities on the Cape and by the parent organization in bringing the operation to fruition and then expanding nationally.

Tim is the franchisee in the region of KoKo FitClub, a digital gym which was founded by husband-wife Cape Cod team Mike Lannon and Mary Obana and now has some 130 locations in 30 states. Cape Cod has five of the locations from Mashpee to Harwich and Orleans.

Tim also helped at the corporate level with the development of the overall business with software enhancements including:

  • Implementation of a technology platform to support multi-location operations which was subsequently adopted as a recommended offering for new owners system-wide
  • Designed, tested, and implemented a net-new labor model to address underperformance in club growth and participation concerns on behalf of 20+ staff members
  • Participates in a selective owner group which gathers input in the areas of KPI reporting, staff training, pricing strategy, revenue expansion, and brand/market development

Before moving into the fitness business Tim was in the financial sector as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Midwood Capital Management, Managing Director and Compliance Officer at Aptus Capital and began his professional career at Citigroup. He earned a B.S. in Economics from The George Washington University.

The CCTC event includes networking and a hot breakfast followed by the presentation and questions and answers. The charge for CCTC members is $15, while there is a $20 charge for non-members.
