Join Nathan Raike of RENEW Northeast as we follow the electron from generator to plug, exploring where our electricity is produced, how it travels to Cape Cod, who keeps supply and demand in balance every second of the day, and how those decisions ultimately show up on your electric bill.
Massachusetts is also in the midst of a major energy transition. Older power plants are closing while offshore wind, solar, battery storage, and other resources are coming online. New transmission infrastructure is being planned to carry that power, and Cape Cod occupies a unique position as both a peninsula near the end of the electric grid and a landing point for new sources of energy.
We’ll look beyond the political debate to better understand the system itself: where we’ve been, how the grid works today, and where Cape Cod’s energy future may be headed.

About Nathan Raike
Nathan Raike is the Manager of State and Local Affairs at RENEW Northeast, where he leads advocacy and policy engagement supporting clean energy development across the region. He works with state and local policymakers, regulatory agencies, and industry stakeholders on issues including renewable energy, grid modernization, and environmental policy.
Previously, Nathan served as an Associate State Policy Analyst at ISO New England, where he tracked state legislation and regulatory proceedings affecting New England’s energy markets and electrification efforts. He has also worked as a consultant at FiscalNote and served two terms in the Vermont State House, supporting legislative work focused on energy policy.
Nathan holds a B.A. in History from the University of Vermont. Outside of work, he enjoys history, hiking, fishing, and exploring New England.
