A Green Grid and Smarter Energy Technology

July 11, 2014 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am

Luke Hinkle, founder of My Generation Energy, Inc. of South Dennis, will address the “Green Grid” at the July First Friday breakfast of the Cape Cod Technology Council.   Because of the Independence Day holiday on July 4, the breakfast will actually be held on the second Friday, July 11, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Hyannis Golf Club on Route 132, Hyannis.

“Our electric grid is not very smart right now,” says Mr. Hinkle.  “A smarter grid will allow more renewable energy to be added over the next generation. So a smart grid is a Green Grid which allows you to be smarter about when and how you use electricity. A Green Grid will reward those who participate wisely through lower rates for using electricity and higher credits for providing energy back to the grid with renewables.”

After receiving a Ph.D. in physics from the Pennsylvania State University in 1989, Luke joined MKS Instruments in Andover, MA where he held various roles from Technology Manager to Product Marketing Director of business groups with annual gross revenues exceeding $200 million. He interrupted his business career while he taught advanced math and science for five years at Falmouth High School.

In 2009, Luke founded My Generation Energy, Inc., a solar energy installation and development company based on Cape Cod.  To date, My Generation Energy has installed over 17,000 panels in Southeastern Massachusetts.  Luke’s other innovations in solar development include the concept of the Community Solar Garden® as first deployed in Brewster in 2012, and local-investor-group-sponsored solar projects across Cape Cod from Provincetown to Falmouth since 2010. His newest venture, Suntility® focuses on optimizing the performance and environmental benefits from existing renewable energy facilities in the region.

The CCTC event includes networking and a hot breakfast followed by the presentation and questions and answers.  The charge for members in $15, while there is a $20 charge for non-members.
